Lately

I am slightly concerned about Ellington's lack of rolling over so yesterday we decided to help her practice. I don't think it helped any, but at least it made us feel like we are doing something. :) I know all babies develop at their own rate, but I think it's about time for a little rolling action!

Yep, I would much rather be on my back!

This is Ellington playing early this morning in her pjs.

Today we got an unexpected visit from GiGi. When she found out she didn't have to work today, she headed to see us. Ellington enjoyed spending time with her and I enjoyed our lunch at MiHacienda!

Oh those beautiful eyes!

Also, we need to wish happy birthday to Big Bob! We got to celebrate with him this past weekend, but today is the actual day! We hope it's been a great day for you Big Bob!

March Birthdays

March brings many birthdays in the Connerley family and we have so much fun celebrating them all in one big party! We went to Brownsville this past weekend to celebrate the birthdays of Julie, Laura, Big Bob, and Jake. We got to be with Julie and Laura on their actual birthdays. Julie's was Saturday and Laura's was Sunday.

Connor and Ellington with one of the birthday girls!

Big Bob read Ellington the princess book that Connor was so sweet to buy for her.

Ellington loves her Aunt Julie and we were so happy to spend her birthday with her!

Let the party begin! MiMi's birthday cake is always so yummy!

The boys being boys!

Laura had a double special weekend! She had her first wedding shower! It was such a fun time and I am so glad I got to be there and share in it with her. I didn't think to take my camera so I don't have any pictures of the shower fun.

Connor is such a SWEET cousin to Ellington. He just lights up when he talks about her and to her. He loves to bring her toys. He is such a funny kid. When he first got to Brownsville Ellington was taking a nap. Robert took Connor with him when Ellington woke up and Connor said, "She has such a big head!". Haha! I think that was his way of saying that she had grown a lot since he had seen her. Also, one time when we were playing he said, "When Ellington gets bigger Jesus will put teeth in her mouth and I will teach her to chew". So funny! Ellington is lucky to have such a great cousin!

Baking With Daddy

We decided to bake cookies for all of the "March Birthdays" in our family that we celebrated this past weekend. Ellington wanted to get in on the action so these are a few pictures of her helping her Daddy bake cookies!

Ellington listened very closely to the directions.

Do you want to stir?

All done!

After the cookies were all finished Ellington kept staring at them like she knew they were something delicious that we weren't letting her have! Robert and Ellington did a great job on the cookies! I enjoyed being the official photographer and taste tester!

Sleeping Update

For 3 of the past 4 nights, this sweet girl....

has slept through the night!!!

This is a really exciting milestone. :) I try not to get too excited because with babies you just never know how something might change, but I am excited-I can't deny it. She has been waking up earlier in the morning...like at 6:30 rather than 7-7:30ish, but if I can sleep through the whole night I don't mind waking up earlier!

Robert started back to class last night. :( However, it's SOOOO much better than he went last fall-when Ellington was just home from the hospital I just couldn't handle it on my own....and then the colic started. Oh my. It was rough. But we've gotten our act together a bit since then! It is harder going through the nighttime routine alone, but it is definitely manageable. And then....at about 7:30....the baby is asleep and Robert is at class....and the house is silent. I would be lying if I said it wasn't kind of nice last night. :) But we do miss him so when he's gone!

Today we got a visit from Pop that we weren't expecting! Ellington was so happy to see her Pop. It had been too long!!! He was so sweet to come and get Gus so that we didn't have to take him to Tennessee with us this weekend. Although, I think he really just came to see Ellington! :)

That's all for this little update. We're leaving tomorrow to go to Tennessee to see Big Bob, Mimi, and the rest of the family! We are so excited because we haven't been since Christmas. Packing with a little one now is much more of a task, so I need to go get busy.

5 Months

Ellington is now 5 months old!

Ellington, what are you up to at 5 months?

  • You are 15 lbs 3oz.
  • You wear 3-6 month clothes, but you are about to be too long for your footie pjs
  • You are smiling more and more
  • You still sleep in your miracle blanket, but you are about to outgrow it (Mommy & Daddy are worried about you trying to sleep without it!)
  • You usually have 5 bottles a day, one during the night, and eat rice cereal/baby food twice a day
  • You do not like to be left alone, even for a second
  • You cried for the first time recently when we left you in the nursery at church
  • You love chewing on your fingers
  • You LOVE for us to sing to you!!!
  • You are getting better at grasping objects for short periods of time
  • You sleep 11-12 hours at night (usually getting up once to eat) and take 3 naps a day
  • You love bananas and sweat potatoes
  • You hate green beans and peas
  • You still do really well in the car and you are getting more patient at red lights (most of the time)
  • You do NOT like sunlight getting in your eyes

This Deserves a Post of Its Own

Last night (February 28, 2010), Ellington slept the WHOLE night for the first time!!! (7:15 pm-6:45 am) WOOHOO!!! This is huge people. I didn't have to stumble out of bed. I didn't have to change a diaper. I didn't have to wish she would eat faster. She just-slept. I can't say the same for myself (ha!). I kept looking at the monitor with every noise. She would stir and cry a little, but never fully wake up. And Robert, being the sweet guy he is, realized when he came home from work this morning that there was NO bottle by the sink (which meant "it" actually happened). He slept on the couch for awhile rather than coming in our room and waking me up. So yeah...it was great. I realize that this might not happen again tonight. I realize that it might not happen again for awhile. But, now I know it's possible and that feels good!
