Putting On Our Party Pants

This week at our house has been terrible. Truly terrible. Stuff has been going on at Robert's work for weeks, but this week was the worst of them all. Some changes will be happening and we are not at all happy about it. (He's not losing his job though) These changes effect everything. I could go on and on and on and on about it, but I am not going to. I will just sound like I'm complaining and it would be so much information that after awhile it probably wouldn't make much sense anyway! I haven't been a supportive wife this week. We've both been so upset and I just got selfish in it all and I wasn't really there for Robert like I should have been. So, yesterday I decided to turn this boat around and plan a fun evening for our family (because it might be our last time to have a week night evening together for a very long time).

So while Robert was at work (he worked during the day yesterday) Ellington and I did a little preparing.

We put this sign on the door for Robert to see when he got home.

Robert found this note on the counter that basically says, "We've had a bad week, but we're going to put on our party pants and celebrate some good things we have going on."

After Ellington had a really late afternoon nap Robert decided he wanted to go to Grumpy's for supper (the note also said he could choose where we went). Grumpy's has all outdoor seating. Taking Ellington to a restaurant can be a scary situation, but she did AWESOME! She sat in her stroller the whole time....I even got to finish my meal without holding her!!! As we were eating some guys were setting up for live music. We were bummed out that we were there too early, but Ellington was doing so great we decided to stick around. They started the music and Ellington LOVED it! She was so content and just watched them the whole time. Robert and I were in heaven and we were having such a great time....my plan was working! :)

Ellington was so mesmerized by the music!

We were able to stay at the restaurant muuuuuuch longer than we've ever stayed anywhere before. Robert and I just kept looking at each other like, "Isn't this just great?" I hope no one is laughing at me for being so excited about our night going successfully especially since we weren't doing anything super special....but ya'll, little E isn't the most laid back baby ever...this was a BIG accomplishment! We just need to only eat out at places that are outdoor and have live music! Ha!

When we got home Robert kept making a noise that made Ellington laugh HYSTERICALLY! It was really the funniest thing ever. My face was hurting so much from laughing.

Robert and I agreed that last night was one of the best nights we've ever had. It was so fantastic and such a much needed break from our bad week. The stressful situation is still there, but we were able to just forget about it for a little bit and it was such a wonderful time. So when you are having a bad week, just remember to put your party pants on and forget about it! :)

  1. I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of you and how much I love all three of you. I too, have worried this week about the situation and as a mother, I still think I have a responsibility to fix it....but of course, I don't. Not to mention that I don't know what the answer would be. I am so glad you had a good night. You are a wonderful wife and mother.
