Midweek Randoms

The blog has been a little quiet lately, but our lives have been ANYTHING but quiet!  Most of the craziness comes from this...

Yep, we are trying to sell our house!  We officially committed to it a week ago and I feel like it's been a crazy whirlwind.  It will continue for quite some time I'm sure!  We are busy busy busy.  And tired.  But it's all for good!  So I'll keep you guys posted on the house selling and buying process as we move along!

I only have THREE days of school left for the year.  CRAZY!  I have loved my job this year!  Only working three mornings a week was amazing and my class of 4 year olds is seriously the best class ever.  I honestly could leave the room for an hour (not that I would!) and come back to a room of kids still doing what they were suppose to be.  Seriously.  They are that good.  I am going to miss them like crazy, but they said I couldn't go to kindergarten with them.  :)  This week was teacher appreciation week.  Look at what I got...

The dozen roses are from a little boy in my class. :)  His mom told him that they were going to pick some flowers for me from their yard and he informed her that it wouldn't be good enough and that they needed to buy me roses. Ya'll should have seen how proud he was when he walked into the room with them!!!  I almost started crying!

As I mentioned, things have been crazy and since this was our first "at home" morning of the week I had a lot of stuff I needed to do...BUT E and I met some friends at the park instead. :)  We both had the best time and I'm so glad we went instead of checking things off of our to-do list.  It was a good decision!

Friday Favorites {Ellington's Expensive Treat}

Awhile back...maybe a few months ago?...Robert bought some of these...

I say "Robert bought them" because there is NO WAY I would have bought them.  At $6 (or $7) a can, there is absolutely zero chance they would have made it in my shopping cart.  Well guess who love them to death??!!  Yes, this little girl...

She is OBSESSED.  She rarely gets to have them (hello...did you hear how much they cost?)  But when she does she is in heaven.  The best part is that she actually calls them by their name..."Pirouette".  Hearing her say that word is almost worth the money. :)  And for the record, Robert is still the Pirouette buyer in this house.  The two of them scheme together to buy more.  So, if you want to know what to buy Ellington for her birthday or Christmas...this is an idea.  Ha!

Happy Friday!

Not Exactly Hippos and Giraffes

Saturday we met our small group friends for lunch and then we went to the Vet School for their Open House! When we told Ellington that we were going to see some animals she requested hippos and giraffes. Ha! Well, we saw some animals, but not those particular ones. :)  We had so much fun...especially since we got to go with our friends!   Our friend Todd is actually in Vet School so he gave us a great personalized tour!

Our first stop was the horses.  Ellington loves horses so this was right up her alley!

Sweet Wade just took it all in!

We then moved on to the petting zoo.

The first animal was a rabbit.  Ellington was eager to get her hands on anything and everything!  She wasn't scared a bit!

Ellington LOVED watching this pig play.  He was tugging and playing with the stuff in his pen and she kept talking about how the pig was just trying to put on his dress. :)

Ellington had a big "first" while we were there.  She got her face painted!

Trying to get a picture of all three kiddos was truly hysterical!

Ellington loved all of the skeletons!

After the petting zoo, face painting, and skeleton tour...we went to an animal show where we saw lots of dogs, snakes, a miniature cow, and a few other kinds of pets.  We had a blast and we were all TIRED once we got home!  We are thankful for new friends to do fun things with!

When we asked Ellington what her favorite animal she saw was, she answered with "the penguin".  There was a video of an animal show when we went in the room for the real animal show.  The first thing we saw was the clip of the penguin.  So, while we gave Ellington this hands on experience her favorite thing was something she saw on the screen.  Nice. :)

Just Some Randoms

This week has been a little strange, but really relaxing. I had some vacation days that I was going to lose if I didn't use them (since we only have 3 weeks of school left! gasp!) so I used them on Tuesday and Wednesday (we already had Mon off for Easter). Ellington still went to school Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and I had some time to myself! I always feel guilty when she goes to school and I am not working. I wish I didn't feel that way. I would probably enjoy my time more if I didn't worry about it!  We've been sleeping in more this week which is always nice.  I think I've gotten 9+ hours of sleep most nights this week.  Nice!  E has been sleeping later too.  Right now it's 8:15 and she's still snoozing away.

One day earlier this week Ellington decided to try out my shoes.

Ellington's imagination has been on OVERDRIVE lately!  It's the cutest thing and I am always amazed by the things she comes up with!!!  In the pictures below she was making up songs about zebras and elephants.  Precious girl!

We are also in the midst of making really big decisions about our future.  So that's always interesting!!!  We feel pretty overwhelmed, but also excited.  I'll post more about that when things start happening!

Ellington and I are looking forward to a morning at the park and we are all looking forward to the weekend ahead.  We hope ya'll have a great weekend as well!

Easter Eggs and Sunday Morning

Yay for Easter! I LOVE Easter!!!  As a believer it's obviously a VERY important time.  The fact that Jesus would die for me to forgive me of my sins is truly something that I don't think I can ever truly grasp.  It's amazing.  It's a miracle.  It's what I should live my life for every.single.day.  I also love the fun stuff of Easter.  I love the colors, the eggs, the candy, the newness, the bunnies, etc. etc.  I love it all!!!  I think Easter is also a special time for me because Ellington's first Easter she was about 6 months old.  And ya'll, it took me her first 6 months to realize that everything was going to be ok and that we would make it.  So I really associate this time of year with that happy time...realizing it would all be ok!  Now that I have rambled on, I will share pictures of our Easter!

Saturday morning we did a little egg dying!

After the eggs were dry, Ellington decorated some with stickers.  This was her favorite part of the egg decorating experience!

After supper it was time to hunt!  Ellington LOVED hunting eggs.  I think we hid them at least six times for her!  She could have done it all night!

Easter 2012 Family Picture :)
I LOVE it!

I had SO much trouble with blogger while I was trying to create this post.  It has taken me most of the morning to get pictures loaded and then I wasn't able to do text between some of the pictures....frustrating.  But anyway, that was our Easter!  And since I couldn't comment above, we handle the Easter Bunny much like Santa.  Ellington got a basket of goodies after church but they were from Robert and I rather than the Easter Bunny.  She got two books from the school book fair, markers, a coloring book, and a new cup.  As any 2 year old would be....she was delighted! :)

Fun in Philadelphia

After we got back home from the Easter party on Thursday morning, we eagerly awaited Grams' arrival to take Ellington to Philadelphia with her.  Thursday was our anniversary so Robert had planned for us to spend a night in Birmingham and for Ellington to stay with my parents (without my knowledge...which was fun!).  Anyway, before Grams got to our house I decided to give E a little pep talk.  She didn't know she would be going and I wanted to ease her into it and talk her down if she got upset that I wasn't going too.  Well, I started telling her that Grams was coming and that she would ride with Grams back to Philadelphia...before I could even get it all out, Ellington put her little hand on my shoulder and said, "Mama, you stay here".  HA!!!!  She didn't need me after all. :)

When she got to Philadelphia, she found a new grill to play with!

Ellington got a fun surprise on Friday morning.  They made bunny cupcakes!

Ellington had the best time while we were gone, but I think Robert and I might have had even more fun!  We had the BEST time away.  It was so much needed and we just enjoyed every second of our time together.  We also got in some great shopping!  Robert and I have both lost a lot of weight and didn't have much to wear anymore.  It was fun shopping without a two year old tag-along. :)  Robert and I got to Philadelphia on Friday evening...ready to start the Easter weekend!

School Party & Egg Hunt

Thursday Ellington's class had an Easter party and egg hunt.  Thursday isn't our normal day to be at school, but they just had one party and you could come even if it wasn't your day.  I liked it being on Thursday because I got to stay for the whole thing!  I think Ellington was more excited about the fact that I was staying with her than the actual party.  She kept saying "Mama stay with you".  :)  It was FUN but it made me sooooo glad that I teach older kids now. :)  Whew.  I don't know how they do it every day!

How cute are they??!!

There were baby chicks at the party!

We knew it was suppose to rain Thursday morning so a few people quickly hid eggs.  As soon as we got out there it was raining.  Thankfully the playground is under a couple of big trees so we didn't really notice it much while the kids quickly found some eggs!

Ellington found her friend Austin to show her the eggs she found.  She was SO PROUD!

I had about 10 takes of this picture and most of them are hilarious!  Not an easy task!

In one of E's goody bags there were some peeps.  She asked to try it so I gave it to her.  I was quite surprised when she took one bite...and then another.  I HATE peeps so I guess I expected her to as well. :)  Right after the second bite she started spitting it all out.  I guess she is my child after all!
