Crazy Days Happen

Yesterday was a CRAZY day.  I am glad it's over.  Really glad.  We started off the morning at school with Christmas parties.  I was able to sneak away from my classroom for a minute to take a few pictures at Ellington's party.  How cute is she with that Christmas hat on? :)  So sweet.  Her teacher makes their parties so special.  The kids in my classroom aren't quite so lucky.  Ha.  She LOVED her party.  She is still talking about it!

After school we were suppose to go to her teacher's house and have lunch.  She was cooking lunch for a few of the people she works with and since I use to work with them (before moving downstairs to the 4 yr. olds), she invited us too.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to go. :(  I took E back to the doctor because she hasn't gotten well since I took her about 3 weeks ago.  I was so thankful that they gave her an antibiotic!  Since we are about to be traveling I REALLY wanted them to give her something!!!

Unfortunately Ellington isn't so keen on taking it.  It was WW III trying to get her to take it last night.  It was actually one of the hardest things we have tried to do as parents!  It was UGLY.  There were MANY tears, gagging, running, trashing, and pink antibiotic EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!  (And just in case you were wondering, it doesn't come out of white clothes!)  Robert and I were at the end of our rope.  We felt so bad for her, but we knew she had to take it.  Eventually she did and she got to eat a Christmas cookie afterwards.  Robert said we might have to give her a cookie every time and I said, "Oh I will!  We need more cookies!!!".  I mentioned how she LOVED the reindeer cookies at her party and look when I found in the fridge this morning......

What a sweet Daddy. :)  Also I failed to mention that we didn't get out of the doctor's office until after 5:00 in the dark.  By the time we drove back to Starkville, ate supper, and picked up the prescription it was after 7:00 before we got back home.  We were all beyond exhausted!!!

I know on my blog it usually seems as if this whole parenting thing is easy and fun....and while it's FANTASTIC, it's also really hard sometimes.  I certainly don't want to complain about being a Mama because goodness knows there is PLENTY of that in the world, but I do want to give a realistic picture of our lives.  It's a hard balance!  So, we're hoping that this medicine will do the trick (if we can get her to take it!) and that she'll be back to the her happy self soon.  The past few days have been quite a challenge with little miss Ellington!

  1. Aww...I didn't know she was sick....alternative is to have them give her a shot....She won't like that either, but at some point she will realize she has one of two choices...take the med or get a shot.

  2. Poor little thing. I hope the medicine taking gets better. Henry finally started taking medicine happily when we let him do the medicine dropper in his own mouth instead of us being in control of it.....and, of course, cookies help make everything better :)

  4. I hope she feels better soon and it gets easier to give her the meds. I try not to blog about the "bad" days because that's not what I want to remember.
